Fantasy Basketball. Yeah. It's That Good.

The world of a fantasy sports player is anything but what the activities imply. Fantasy sporting, often called, (only by me), "forting" is a lifestyle. You live, you work, and you play. Yes, I admit that the majority of "forters" are obese and above the age of 40, but look at America, who isn't 40 and a little over weight?
Here are some stats, 54% of all males (above the age of 18) admit to indulging their cravings of fantasy sports. Of this majority of males, 30% play fantasy baseball, 40% play fantasy football, yet only a minuscule 2% play fantasy basketball.
The NBA has gotten the cold shoulder from the American people. My theory is that people are either jealous of the skills that these "freaks of nature" possess, or they are in denial of how somebody can be that talented. Common complaints include "It's not basketball how it was meant to be played." To that I say, yes, it is. It is the NBA... This is the highest level of basketball in our country. (besides the Olympic Team) (USA!) I'll admit it, NBA is a totally different game than college ball. The difference is that the skill level is higher. This creates a different style of play. Honestly people, what's not to love about Earl Boykin? I urge you, as Americans, take pride in your country. We have the best basketball players in the world.
Back to the fantasy aspect, (I apologize for the rant) It was not until recently that I fell into this 2% of fantasy basketball players. Commissioner Gossett created a league Christmas Day. Since then I have been dominating my co-writers. I found that, like fantasy baseball and football, fantasy basketball makes you delve deeper into the beauty of the NBA. My combination of Kevin Durant, John Wall, and Chris Bosh, WILL be unstoppable this year.
Here are some Pros of fantasy basketball:
1. The 66 game schedule makes for a fast paced season full of action, excitement, and tough coaching decisions. This fast paced action forces you, as a manager to formulate the perfect lineup every night. (Unlike football where you have to wait 7 days)
2. Added interest in games. If you are like me, I could NOT care less about how bad the Detroit Pistons lose by every night, now however, if the networks for some reason unbeknownst to the world decides to air a Pistons game, I am instantly hooked to see how many steals Damien Wilkins has. This adds passion to the sport, and increases ratings, and if you know anything about economics, you know that this creates revenue which, unlike our current government, can pull this, the greatest country on Earth out of the recession viper we have fallen prey to.
3. I know you have nothing better to do with your winter. Fantasy football is over, and the only thing that can save you, yes you from the grasps of winter's wrath is something meaningful to occupy your time, i.e. Fantasy Basketball
4. Tebow plays it... Need I say more?
So, to all you haters out there, I know what you are missing. This is the opportunity to fill that void left when your precious fantasy football team went 0-fer. If you aren't the biggest basketball fan, think of it as a learning experience. A chance to see some of the best athletes to ever play the game.
